Workshop hours 9.15am – 5pm

This green wood course is for both enthusiastic novices and those experienced in working with wood.

The joints and techniques will give you the understanding and confidence to construct a green wood build at home. You will get first hand experience of the whole process from the newly delivered squared lengths of timber through the cutting and joining, to the finish of a beautiful framework incorporating the curved crucks that are so much a part of a green oak building.

In the process you will discover how to assemble different joints using various traditional tools and methods.

You will be working on post, beams and crucks that form part of a covered way on an extension of a barn conversion.

The same principle construction can be used to build your own porch, shed, conservatory or pergola.

Students always comment on the sheer delight of working with such a fantastic natural product and the delicious aroma of the oak tannins is just an added bonus.

Tools are provided but should you wish to bring your own a suitable list will be sent on booking.
